NOT THE MOST CONVENIENT DESIGN FOR A LITTLE CHILD TO SAY THE LEAST
I honestly think that I lot of people (including children) don’t wear protection because it simply takes too long to put it on before you go rollerblading. Now multiply this time by two (when you have to put rollerblades and protection on yourself and your offspring) or three /four times if you have several children.
I wanted my child to be safe so I bought this set. I was very excited about its cost. The very first time I wasted good 30 + minutes being already fully dressed in winter clothes with my own rollerblades and protection gear on crawling and kneeling on the floor to dress my 6 year old child who was unable to put it all on herself without my help. This was the time when I found that the length of the strips is too long and the pads are too lose on the skinny child’s legs and arms. Powerslide decides to save money by not putting on an extra piece of Velcro to make it more size fitting and adjustable. Seriously?! Are they that cheap??? We ended up sawing on extra pieces on the upper and lower strips of elbow and knee pads (16 pieces altogether). Well it helped but it look several hours. It was already too late to go for a ride that day.
On top of everything, if you get overheated from wearing your winder clothes inside the house or per say you are just by nature absent minded, there is a chance that you will forget about the fact that Poweslide knee pads do NOT have zippers (like a more expensive version of Seba protection set). So if you already put on your child’s feet the rollerblades but didn’t put on the knee pads, you will end up untying the boot again, taking it off, dragging the knee pad “sock” over the jeans (and you’d better make your child wears skinny jeans only, otherwise the pad will get stuck somewhere midway up the leg) and then putting the rollerblades back on again, lacing and buckling them one more time….What a pain! And if it is a cold time of the year, you and your child most likely will be getting too hot sitting at heated home in winter clothes on while struggling with this ridiculous process.
Yes, these pads are strong enough and will protect your child fine if you get the right size or spend several hours adding the Velcro pieces to the strips like my husband and I did. However time matters. At least for me. I want the whole process to be fast and enjoyable. My advice: save your time, spend more money and buy better designed protective equipment, folks. Or just invest your time in sawing and putting a few mental notes about in what order all the pieces should be put on.
P.S. The set looks different than in the picture. More area of the knee and elbow is actually protected.
